Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland has extended best wishes to Phillip Hughes and his family, describing news of his sickening injury as one that 'sends shudders through you'.
Hughes, who suffered a heavy blow on head by a bouncer during South Australia's Sheffield Shield clash with NSW at SCG, was kept in an induced coma before undergoing surgery, and is now kept in intensive care at St Vincent hospital.
Sutherland said that they are all in a state of shock and pleasingly there was medical attention that he was able to receive immediately at the ground and then to be transported to hospital. He further said that they are now hoping him to come out of the ongoing procedures in the right way and wishes him for a speedy recovery, Fox Cricket reported.
The most important thing right now is about Phillip and his health and safety. Obviously thoughts and prayers are with him and his family and friends, he added. Hughes received messages from the New Zealand cricketers immediately after the incident and it is a sign of the regard with which he's held, he added.
On the other hand, South Australia high performance manager and former Australia coach Tim Nielsen has called for the privacy of Hughes family to be taken into consideration.
