With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, candidates in a fray are not the only ones busy in a flurry of activities, bakers do brisk business as cakes bearing eye-catching political parties symbols and flags hit confectionary markets attracting hordes of customers.

While some are already flooded with orders, others are busy negotiating and working out details.

The cake- bakers in the city become most sought after at election time by politicians and supporters of all hues.

The cakes bearing the symbols of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Congress party and the Aam Aadmi Party have grabbed maximum eye-balls.

They have made cakes with almost all the party symbols and it is garnering good response from the customers as well as party supporters and they are appreciating their efforts.

"Since it is time of elections we have made a series of attractive cakes bearing political parties symbols and flags. Everyone has his/her choice of the party so we tried to make cakes with almost all party symbols," said a chef at the cake-bakery, Mahavir Singh.

What catches the eye is the perfect icing used to create each party symbol on the cakes-absolutely keeping up with party colours. Each cake is almost a work of art, painstakingly created and coloured.

"I really love these cakes and I am enjoying the poll frenzy and election fever as it is seen in markets and now in cakes also. This has made me a lot more excited," said a customer, Dhanush.

Looking at the response and the bumper sales, the cake-bakers said that it is also like a festival in our country and needs to be celebrated. But they also added that they came up with the idea to attract youths involved in the election campaigning in the city.

Polls are a time for heated exchanges between political leaders and supporters. However, for once, there is sweetness to the usually bitter election campaign in the province.
