Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Saturday assured action against the culprits behind the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and Airport Authority of India (AAI) staffers' scuffle, which led to the death of a CISF head constable.
"It is a serious issue, the culprits will be surely held responsible," said Raju.
The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) had on Thursday confirmed that full normalcy has been restored to the Calicut International Airport after an altercation between Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel and Airport Authority of India (AAI) staffers on duty turned violent.
A release from the ministry said that during the scuffle, a fire arm belonging to a CISF personnel went off, killing the head constable.
The release further confirmed that the official handling the fire arm has sustained burn injuries and has been hospitalised.
Due to the squabble, five flights were diverted at the airport.
As per reports, 15 CISF and AAI staffers have been booked till now.
