Campaigning for seventh phase of Lok Sabha polls comes to an end

Campaigning for 89 Parliamentary constituencies, spread over seven states and two Union Territories, which goes to polls on Wednesday in the seventh phase ended on Monday.

The states and union territories are Andhra Pradesh (17), Bihar (7), Gujarat (26), Jammu and Kashmir (1), Punjab (13), Uttar Pradesh (14), West Bengal (9), Dadra and Nagar Haveli, and Daman and Diu.

The seventh phase will be important as Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi is one of the contestant who is in the fray in this phase. Other major candidate whose fate will be decided in this phase include Congress President Sonia Gandhi from Rae Barreli , BJP patriarch L.K. Advani from Gandhinagar, Arun Jaitley from Amritsar, BJP president Rajnath Singh from Lucknow, Uma Bharti from Jhansi, National Conference (NC) chief Farooq Abdullah from Srinagar and others.

Campaigning will also end for 119 Assembly constituencies of Andhra Pradesh today. Polling in these Assembly segments will also be held on Wednesday.
