Former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah has said there can be no comparison made between People's Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti and current Chief Minister and her father Mufti Mohammad Sayeed.
In an interview to a Pakistani journalist, Omar said that Mufti Sayeed has kept the Congress Party alive in Jammu and Kashmir.
He also rejected reports and suggestions emanating from Pakistan that he had politically inherited everything from his father (Farooq Abdullah) and grandfather (Sheikh Abdullah), whereas it was being projected that Mehbooba Mufti had achieved her political presence and stature in the state on her own.
"I am shocked that Pakistan thinks that I have inherited everything, whereas Mehbooba Mufti has made everything on her own. If she is the daughter of Mufti Sahib, then the same thing is applicable to her as well. It is true that Mufti Sahib is a grassroots worker. He kept the Congress alive, even when the name of the Congress was offensive. But you cannot compare Mehbooba Mufti with Mufti Sahib," he told his Pakistani interviewer.
