Joe Oliver, Canada's Minister of Natural Resources, will travel to India from January 11 to January 16, accompanied by a Canadian business delegation.
He will meet with senior government officials and energy industry executives in Delhi, Mumbai and Ahmedabad to discuss the importance of enhancing trade and investment ties between Canada and India.
Building on extensive and productive Canada-India engagement over the past year, Minister Oliver will reinforce Canada's role as a reliable, secure and environmentally responsible energy supplier.
Scheduled events during the Minister's visit include a keynote speech in Greater Noida during PETROTECH 2014, the 11th International Oil and Gas Conference and Exhibition, and a speech to the Confederation of Indian Industries in Mumbai.
"Canada and India have achieved tremendous progress in trade, investment, innovation and scientific collaboration, and we stand ready to expand our strategic partnership through greater cooperation," said Minister Oliver.
In 2012, Canada-India bilateral investment was valued at $4.4 billion and two-way trade totalled $5.1 billion. Five cooperative agreements concerning natural resources are currently in force between Canada and India.
