Former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh on Saturday said that the elections in Punjab will be a 'one war affair' in favour of the Congress.

Replying to a question about what will be the issues in the elections, Amarinder said he will focus on lawlessness, drug addiction, intimidation of people, closure of industry and consequent problems.

He said people from different areas in the district told him that they were fed up with Bikram Singh's excesses and atrocities.

He disclosed that on Friday an Akali leader had allegedly got killed a business rival just because he dared to start liquor business.

He alleged that such activities have been happening for a long time and pointed to an earlier incidents like the one in which an Akali leader shot dead a police official for opposing indecent advances towards his daughter.

The former Chief Minister said the Akalis had pushed Punjab into drug addiction and had ruined almost an entire generation. He pointed out that in the nearby Maqboolpoora village has many widows as their husbands had died due to addiction.

Capt. Amarinder maintained that the Akalis had nothing to offer or claim about and said the Akalis had made life difficult for Navjot Singh Sidhu who tried to do good work here but was prevented just because the Akalis did not want him to emerge as a strong leader.

To another question whether he expected booth capturing during the elections, the Congress leader shot back saying "don't underestimate us that we will allow all that to happen".

Besides, he added, "booth capturing may be possible where the results are close. But in Amritsar it is going to be one way affair and it will not be possible for the Akalis to resort to those tactics of intimidation and arm twisting".
