Former Chief Minister and Congress candidate from Amritsar Capt Amarinder Singh today said that the Akali-BJP alliance was most opportunistic.
He pointed out that while the two parties were fighting the election together in Punjab, they were fighting against each other in Haryana.
He also lashed out at the Revenue Minister Bikram Majithia for criminalising politics in Amritsar and promised him that he will be made to meet the same fate, to which he has been subjecting his political opponents, particularly the Congress workers.
Addressing a well attending public meeting here today organised by Tarsem Singh DC, Capt Amarinder pointed out while in Punjab the Akali and BJP were fighting elections together, in Haryana the Akalis were supporting the Indian National Lok Dal.
"This only betrays their opportunism", he remarked, while adding, they can go to any extent to stick to power.
The former Chief Minister recalled his association with Attari saying that during his tenure he had constructed the Sham Singh Attari Road in the memory of Sikh General Sham Singh Attari who had led a brave fight during the Anglo-Sikh war.

He said, the Attari town had a great history of sacrifice and martyrdom.
Lashing out at Majithia, he said that the former was an aberration and affront to a family which had a great and glorious past. He warned Majithia when the right time comes, he will be made accountable to each and every sin of his omission and commission.
Amarinder also lashed out at the Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal for turning blind to all the doings of Bikram Majithia. He said, "Badal remains busy in his Sangat Darshan programmes while Majithia was running amuck".

Appealing people to vote for him, he said, this was the right time to make this government realise its failures, mistakes and intimidation. He said that he had a vision for the entire Amritsar which will be implemented after he gets elected to the parliament.
