Terming the brutalities unleashed by the Islamic State (IS) as devilish, the Pope's envoy to Iraq made a careful case for taking on the militant group to protect civilians on Monday.
Cardinal Fernando Filoni although ruled out "war" as a means of combating the IS but called on the Iraqi government and others to do "something different" to defend the people who are in need. He did not explain what "something different" would be.
He also added that it was the "moral duty" of the world to stop the group from advancing, reported CNN.
Cardinal Filoni condemned the recent beheadings by the IS by saying that no one could commit such an act in the name of God.
