CBI arrests Delhi Police officials in bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and a constable of Delhi Police for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1,50,000 for not stopping the illegal construction of a building at Narela, a sub-city located in the North West Delhi.

A case was registered by the agency on the allegations of the complainant that both the police officials posted at the Narela Police Station, was demanding a bribe of 1,50,000 for permitting the illegal construction of building.

A trap was laid and the constable was caught while he was accepting Rs 50,000 as a part of first installment of the bribe from the complainant, on behalf of the SHO, Police Station Narela.

Later, the ASI was also apprehended. Searches were conducted at the office and residential premises of the accused persons.

The two cops were booked under Section 120-B of IPC and under Section 7 of PC Act, 1988 against the Constable and the ASI at the Narela Police Station.

The accused are being produced on Thursday before the Delhi court.
