The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested Mumbai-based stock broker Deepak Chandratan Pareek and real estate broker Dharmendra Bothra for their alleged involvement in the multi-crore chit fund scam.

They were arrested in connection with their fraudulent roles in the chit fund company Artha Tatwa Group.

Bothra allegedly acted as a mediator between ruling Biju Janata Dal MLA Pranab Balabantray and Artha Tatwa Group chief Pradip Sethy for a land deal, while Parekh, who is owner of Mumbai-based Yash Trading, was handling the chit fund company's share trading business.

Pareek had allegedly obtained license from SEBI and MCX for the Artha Tatwa Group.

Earlier in August this year, the CBI had conducted searches at the residences of Pareek and a lady television serial producer in Mumbai.
