Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar on Thursday ordered a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry against two serving major generals of Indian Army in a disproportionate assets case.
The inquiry has been ordered against Major General Ashok Kumar and Major General S.S. Lamba.
The ministry had received complaints against these officers and inquired into them before handing over their case to the CBI. The officers have been accused of amassing far more wealth than they have legitimately earned.
The officers under the scanner have allegedly paid bribe to get promotions to Lt. General rank, Ministry of Defence sources said.
