CBI raid on Teesta office, residence on basis of MHA complaint

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Tuesday said that the agency conducted a raid at activist Teesta Setalvad's office and residence on the basis of a complaint received from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), adding that all the accused in the case should cooperate with the investigation.

"Case has been registered against the Mumbai based companies and its directors under certain sections of the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act (FCRA) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Case has been registered on the basis of the complaint which has been received from the MHA who had done a detailed inquiry on the issue," CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad told ANI.

"Today searches have been conducted on the basis of the search warrant which has been obtained from the court following the due process of law. All the accused, including Ms Teesta should cooperate with the investigation and any of her allegations will be certainly looked into during the investigation," she added.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) earlier raided the residence and office of activist Teesta Setalvad, who has been accused of illegally receiving funds from abroad.

The investigating agency had earlier registered a case against Setalvad for allegedly receiving funds from foreign entities without prior permission from the government.
