The Janata Dal (United) has put the ball in the government's court and said that it has to take the initiative to resolve the deadlock over demonetisation in parliament.

JD (U) leader Sharad Yadav told ANI that the opposition wants the Parliament to function without any disruptions.

"But as of now there is an ongoing friction between the government and opposition. So, the government must take the initiative to end this deadlock and definitely there will be a way out," he added.

A united opposition has so far continued to stall proceedings in both Houses over the demonetisation issue.

Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar yesterday hit out at the opposition for stalling parliamentary proceedings and accused them of running away from debate.

He appealed to the opposition parties not to derail the government's crusade against black money.

Stating that the entire country is in support of the decision on scrapping of high value currency notes, Kumar said the government is ready for a discussion on the issue from day one of the winter session.

The opposition did not pay heed to his appeal and continued their protest.
