The Office of the Resident Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh at the Andhra Bhawan in New Delhi has launched a unique intiative to reach out to the people of the state putting up in Delhi/NCR.

A brainchild of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, the initiative lays down the provision for the people to reach out to the Bhawan or call the authorities in case they have any issue back home, every Monday between 5 and 6 p.m.

"There are around 4 lakh people from Andhra Pradesh, who are living in the NCR. They can have a number of issues - ranging from domicile certificates, mutation to everything. So if any person has any issue, I can be their representative. I can talk to the DM of the district, a police personnel or any department and can sort the issue out on their behalf," Praveen Prakash, Resident Commissioner of Andhra Pradesh at the Andhra Bhawan, told ANI.

"The situation is similar to a person facing an issue, while living in the U.K. We have a High Commission there. And the person can contact the High Commissioner to sort the issue out. I am Andhra's High Commissioner in Delhi/NCR," he added.

Prakash further said that with this first-of-its-kind grievance-resolution initiative, they just want to reach out to the 4 lakh people living here.

"They can come in or call me between 5 and 6 p.m. every Monday. I will listen to them and be their representative," he said.

The initiative is an extension of the much-larger and much-celebrated 'Janmabhoomi-Maa Vooru' programme in Andhra Pradesh.

Chief Minister Naidu has always stressed on the need to make people partners in the governance of the state and hence, with the aforementioned programme, which was launched on January 2 last year, the focus is laid on better interaction of the residents of the state with the government.

Along with the resolution of grievances, the JBMV is also aimed at getting feedback on the implementation of development and welfare programmes.
