Former Australian player Greg Chappell has said that he believes Australian cricket would take at least two years to overcome its current problems, and has urged to maintain patience rather than panic in supporting the young players through the tough times.

According to the Courier Mail, Chappell, who has seen the decline in recent years first hand as Cricket Australia's national talent manager, claims that Australia was slow to react as the game changed and there were no quick fixes, comparing the current situation to the mid 80s.

The Aussie great said that he was sure some of the guys playing in England would become mainstays of Australia's next good batting line-up.

He added that the supporters and the country had to be a little forgiving and accept that at the moment the England team was more experienced and playing good cricket.
