Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat on Friday confirmed that the Char Dham yatra has not been halted, adding that the pilgrimage has only been stopped at certain areas for 'safety purposes'.

"The Char Dham yatra has not been halted. Yes, we have stopped the pilgrims at different places for safety purpose. Around 2500-3000 pilgrims have been safely transported to their desired spot. However, about 1000 youth in Ghangaria have insisted that they will continue their journey on foot tomorrow," Rawat said.
