Charges have been framed against Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the defamation case filed by Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, and now Union Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Following the orders passed by Patiala House Court; charges against Kejriwal have been framed under Section 499 and Section 500 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Meanwhile, Kejriwal has been given exemption from appearing in person at the court.
Earlier today, Kejriwal had refused to take back his allegations against Gadkari as he appeared before the Patiala High Court.
Kejriwal showed up at the court today for a fresh hearing in the criminal defamation complaint filed against him by Gadkari.
Gadkari's lawyer, Anil Soni said the Union Minister would withdraw his case if Kejriwal took back his allegations, but the AAP leader refused to do so.
