Cheryl Fernandez-Versini's rose bum design has been voted the worst celebrity tattoo of all time as her fans described the 12,000 pounds flower design as "naff."

Sarah Harding came second for the huge phoenix tattooed on her back with the message "Don't Be Bitter- Glitter," while the American actress Hayden Panettierre secured the third place for her mispelled "Vivere senza rimipanti" tattoo, which means "To Live Without Regrets" in Italian, the Daily Star reported.

Fourth place in the poll went to David Beckham for the incorrect spelling of his wife Victoria's name in Sanskrit, fifth place went to Katie Price who got a new tattoo to cross out the first name of her former husband Pete Andre following their split in 2009 and the sixth least popular tattoo was One Direction star Zayn Malik's tribute to his Little Mix star girlfriend Perrie Edwards.

In seventh place was Melanie Griffith for her Antonio tattoo, her embarrassing tribute to her now ex-husband Antonio Banderas and Angelina Jolie came in eighth place for making the same mistake as Griffith. She has now had the tattoo dedicated to her ex-husband Billy Bob Thornton removed.

A spokesman for Premier Laser Clinic, which carried out the poll of 1,000 people, said that "think before you ink" should be engraved on the brain of everyone before they even contemplate having a tattoo, particularly if it is dedicated to a romantic partner.

He added that technology has improved to such an extent that pretty much any embarrassing tattoo can be removed and barely leave a trace of the former artwork.

He continued that Fernandez-Versini's floral design is said to have taken 14 hours to create and would take several months to remove, but most tattoo removals are far simpler and can be done over a few sessions for little more than 250 pounds.
