Police have arrested two men in connection with the alleged rape of a class ninth student in the Chhapra district of Bihar. The arrests were made late on Saturday.
The student was allegedly abducted and raped while returning to her home from a festive fair on October 18. But the case came to light on Saturday after she registered a complaint with the police.
Chhapra's Superintendent of Police, Har Kishore Rai told ANI, "We got the information about the incident yesterday. We are investigating the matter." He also added that a special team has been formed to nab the other culprits.
Preliminary investigation reveals the kidnappers allegedly threatened the victim with weapons before kidnapping her. The men then took her to a field and gang-raped her. The girl complained that they made a video of the crime and circulated on social media.
Meanwhile, the accused have denied the allegations, saying that they have been set up in the case.
Bihar, of late, has witnessed a rise in graph of crime against women.
In July, a student was allegedly gang-raped by her seniors, faculty members and the principal, in the same district.
