Officials of the Health Department are organising camps in remote villages in the forest areas of Kawardha to save lives of tribals fighting monsoon related illnesses.

District Collector Awanish Sharan said that access to these regions is extremely difficult due to lack of roads.

"Villages in Daldali PHC are based in such a terrain that villagers have no access to health services. Several people are suffering from diarrhoea after the rains. So a health camp was set up there by officials of the Health Department to lend medical aid," Sharan said.

One patient, with a weak radial pulse, was carried by health workers on a 'charpai' to the nearest road from where he was rushed to a health centre on a bike ambulance.

"We have received information that one child has died. A team has been dispatched to the village to investigate the cause of the death. Around 33 others are also ill in the area but their condition is stable," Sharan said.

"Many of these villages have 10-15 houses. They are located in such a difficult terrain that it is difficult to construct roads and other infrastructure. However, roads are being constructed and electricity is being made available in the area, but some villages are yet to be covered," he added.

Sharan also commended the health workers for their work in these remote areas and said more health centres will be organised in the coming days.
