With a day left for the state assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the Congress party on Saturday launched an all-out attack on Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government accusing it of pushing the state into poverty, unemployment and Naxalism.

Criticising the BJP manifesto released by the party president Amit Shah for the Chhattisgarh polls earlier today, Congress leader Jaiveer Shergill added that people have realised that BJP manifesto is "handbook of lies and misinformation".

"The only utility of BJP manifesto is to wrap and serve hot pakoras in it. Amit Shah should muster courage and ask the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) and Chief Minister Raman Singh who labelled Naxals as their own people and their sons," he added.

Shergill also said that Shah should give an account of 15 years of failure of BJP government in Chhattisgarh.

"The difficulty is that BJP's fight against Naxalism is extremely solid during election rallies and speeches but a complete failure on the ground reality. Raman Singh's own home constituency Kavardha is included in Naxal affected areas which is a living proof hat BJP's fight against Naxalism is weak, hollow and meaningless," he added.

Shergill further said that the slogan of BJP 'na khaunga na khane dunga' (will neither take bribe nor let anyone take bribe) is 'khao pio aish karo'(live lavishly) in reality.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Anand Sharma held Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led central government responsible for the lack of employment, inflation, hike in fuel prices and others.

He said that the Prime Minister should accept his mistakes and issue an apology. "The Prime Minister is egoistic and does not accept his mistakes. Note ban was a bad decision he took without consultation. He does not believe in discussions and debate." "The main job of Prime Minister Modi is to criticise the Congress," Sharma added.

Responding to a comment made by the Prime Minister accusing the Congress of fuelling Naxalism, Sharma said, "The Prime Minister said in Chhattisgarh that Congress is supporting urban Naxals. This statement from him is shameful. He should understand the dignity of his post. Party people of the Congress lost their lives in the attack. I condemn his statement."

Attacking the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Sharma said, "Chief Minister Raman Singh is here for last 15 years. He should come clean on Panama paper issue. Nawaz Sharif (former Pakistan Prime Minister) even lost his power due to Panama paper leak. Don't expect Prime Minister to act like that."

The two-phased elections in Chhattisgarh will be held on November 12 and 20 respectively.
