District Reserve Guard (DRG) and Special Task Force (STF) returned to Bijapur with bodies of eight Naxals, who were killed by the forces in forests of Timinar and Pusnar during Anti-Naxal operation, along Dantewada-Bijapur border area earlier today.
Eight Naxals, including four female, were gunned down by the security forces in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Thursday.
The operational teams from Dantewada district also recovered two INSAS rifle, two .303 rifle, one 12 bore rifle and few other muzzle-loading weapons from their possession, confirmed P Sundar Raj, DIG Anti Naxal Operations.
The encounter between STF, DRG and the Naxals took place near Timinar and Pusanar village along the bordering area of Dantewada and Bijapur district at around 6 am in the morning.
Earlier on Wednesday, a woman Naxal was killed in an encounter with the security forces in Manpur area of Chhattisgarh.
Jarina Potai, who had a reward of Rs 5 lakhs on her head, had been active in Manpur sub-division of Rajnandgaon district since 2005.
