A woman wielding a kitchen knife went on a stabbing spree wounding 14 children at a kindergarten school in China's Chongqing city on Friday.
Chongqing City Banan District police said that the incident occurred at about 9:30 am (local time), when the children were going back to their classes after morning exercises, when the woman attacked them, CNN reported.
The female attacker, aged 39 years old, was sent into police custody after being overpowered by the security guards and staff of the kindergarten school. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.
In recent years, China has faced a string of unrelated knife attacks in high, middle and kindergarten schools.
In April this year, nine students were stabbed to death in a similar attack at a middle school in Shaanxi province.
