China has warned U.S. to 'stop interfering in China's internal affairs' in light of U.S. demand for a full disclosure of the Tiananmen Square massacre of 1989.

The Tiananmen Square protests had weeks of peaceful protest by students and workers, which China considers as 'counter-revolutionary revolt' and defends the decision of sending the army to end it on June 1989, reports BBC.

U.S has pressed Chinese government to end 'harassment' of those who participated in the protest and fully account for those who were killed, wrongfully detained or missing.

The Chinese authorities have made any discussion of the crackdown, which is thought to have left hundreds dead, as taboo.

According to the report, U.S. urged China to protect the universal human rights of all its citizens and end the ongoing harassment of human rights activists and their families.

Foreign ministry spokesman Hong Lei said that U.S. should discard its political prejudice and warned it of making 'groundless accusations'.

Hong urged U.S. to correctly treat China's development and rectify its wrongdoings else it may hamper China-U.S. relations, the report added.
