China's internet regulation has said that it will crack down on "fraud rings" and "prostitution" on dating websites and enforce online real-name registration.
According to BBC, the Cyberspace Administration of China said that fraud has become a "public nuisance" especially to young users.
Searching for love online has become a big business. A site Jiayuan.com had around 100 million users in 2014.
The Chinese government regularly blocks international websites including Facebook, Twitter and news providers.
In the recent past, the government of China has stepped up controls for real-time registration on the internet that restricts access to virtual private networks (VPNs) and clamps downs on web rumours.
