A Christian couple in Pakistan's Punjab province has been beaten to death over blasphemy charges wherein they allegedly desecrated a Koran, said police.
They worked in the town of Kot Radha Kishan in Punjab where their bodies were burned at the brick kiln.
According to the BBC, the victims were identified as Shama and Shehzad.
A local police station official Bin Yameen said that the incident of desecration of the holy Koran took place yesterday and today the mob beat the couple to death and set their bodies to fire.
A security official said that the police had tried to save the couple but the mob attacking the couple was too big.
Government ministers and senior police officials will now start an investigation into the killings.
Since 1990s, many Christians have been found guilty of blasphemy or of desecrating the Koran.
