Slovakian Dominika Cibulkova has said that she is confident of winning a Grand Slam title one day following her defeat to Chinese ace Li Na in the Australian Open finals on Saturday.

The first Slovakian woman player to reach a Grand Slam singles final, 20th-seed Cibulkova, who was beaten 7-6(3) 6-0 by Li Na, showed she can adapt her game to all surfaces in her run to the Australian Open final by taking out Maria Sharapova and Agnieszka Radwanska on the way.

According to Stuff.co.nz, Cibulkova said that she can win a Grand Slam one day as she feels that she has the ability to challenge the biggest names in the women's sport and beat them, adding that she has already played in a Grand Slam final at just 24 years of age, which is a big step on the road to success.

Stating that she has been waiting for such a chance for a long time, Cibulkova also said that her run in the tournament has changed the way in which she viewed herself, adding that she wants to keep going like that on every surface that she plays in the future.

Cibulkova said the disappointment of not making more history for her country was outweighed by her efforts over the past two weeks, adding that she is proud of the way she handled her game in her first Grand Slam final.
