CJI Lodha calls judicial corruption worst form of ailment

Expressing concern over corruption in the judiciary, Chief Justice of India RM Lodha on Saturday said that judicial corruption is the worst form of ailment in a thriving democracy.

"It is very important that the judiciary is corruption free. If there is any amount of corruption in the judiciary, it sheens impurity. That is the worst form of ailment in a thriving democracy," said Lodha.

The Chief Justice of India requested the people present on the occasion not to do anything that directly or indirectly helps in bringing corruption to the judiciary.

"Corruption is not something that can happen by one hand. There are people who play all play sorts of tricks, who are prepared to tempt judges and anything to please the people who are in judiciary," said Lodha.

"If we are able to ensure that the corruption is eradicated in all forms from the judiciary, it will make our rule of law very strong. Legal profession plays a very vital role in the independence of the country," he added.
