Targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi on PM-KISAN scheme, Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Sunday said that only six families received the benefit of the scheme out of the list of 10 lakh farmers' families he has sent.

"Modi, who came to power five years ago with a lot of promises, is a big liar. One instance is enough to prove this. We decided to waive loans worth Rs 45,000 crore. But Modi said this was lollipop and had not benefited anybody. But I want to tell you that 44 lakh people are benefiting," the Chief Minister said in a joint rally with his coalition partner Congress.

"We have brought schemes for the welfare of the farmers in the budget. We ensure the farmer is not indebted instead of loan waiver. We sent details of 10 lakh farmer families but only 6 families have been given the benefit under the PM KISAN Yojana," he said.

Under PM-KISAN scheme, an amount of Rs 2,000 each in three installments will be transferred directly to the bank account of beneficiaries through the Direct Benefits Transfer scheme. More than 12 crore farmers are expected to get the benefits of this scheme.

Former Prime Minister and JDS supremo HD Deve Gowda said: "For the first time, the leaders of both parties decided to join hands under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi to bring a change in the country."

"The BJP was in power in Kashmir for the three and a half years and the state was plunged into chaos. The youths have hit the streets. This coalition government has proved how it can work and we will definitely win all 28 seats in the state," he said.
