Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Thursday said it is an irony that one of the most honest politicians and one of the most honest corporate leaders will be questioned by the CBI in the coal blocks allocation scam and added that probably top honesty is their crime.

"What an irony! One of the most honest Politician and one of the most honest Corporate Leader to be questioned by CBI!," Singh tweeted.

"Their Crime? Probably Top Honesty! I am sure they would prove their innocence on every platform," he added.

The Congress general secretary's observation came a day after former prime minister Manmohan Singh was summoned in the coal blocks allocation scam.

Earlier on Wednesday, a special court in Delhi summoned the former prime minister, former coal secretary P.C. Parakh, industrialist Kumar Manglam Birla and three others in the coal blocks allocation case.

The court summoned them for offences of criminal conspiracy, breach of trust and under provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act. They have all been asked to appear in court on the April 8.
