To express his love for his motherland, a goldsmith in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, has designed the world's smallest gold flag.
Goldsmith U.M.T. Raja said he made the miniature version of the Indian flag using only four miligrams of gold, making it the smallest in the world.
"Our ancestors have suffered and struggled a lot for the freedom of India. The present scenario in the country angers me that we are unable to improve this situation. This fury has made me design this miniature gold flag, which is the smallest in the world and I dedicate it to the freedom fighters and to my motherland,"said Raja.
Besides the flag, Raja also made a miniature model of gold depicting the Indian freedom movement, which includes the Indian flag and a model of great freedom fighter,Mahatma Gandhi. The whole movement is depicted on a matchstick, which Raja painted in saffron white and green-the colours of the Indian flag.
Raja added that he did not make these models just to get a world record under his banner but because he wanted to create awareness among people about the freedom struggle and the joys of being citizens of an independent country.
India will be celebrating its 68th year of independence from British rule on August 15 (Friday).
