Colorado's Rubbin' Buttz BBQ restaurant is set to give out discounts on "White Appreciation Day" in June, in order to "celebrate all Americans."
On 11 June, white customers in the Milliken, Colorado restaurant will be able to get 10 per cent off the bill, the Independent reported.
Owner Edgar Antillon explained that they have a whole month for Black History Month and a whole month for Hispanic Heritage Month, and so they figured that at least they could offer one day to appreciate white Americans.
He added that they are all American plain and simple, whether one comes from a different country or was born here.
However, the discount has predictably garnered criticism, with Ricardo Romero, a civil rights activist in northern Colorado, saying that it's wrong as the discount should be given to the whole community.
Antillon took it to his Facebook page to react to the backlash by saying "As a Mexican, I wanted to highlight a double standard. I have more to say, and I will."
He added that as an American born for Mexican parents, racism is something he had experienced through his whole life.
