The wife of Formula One legend Michael Schumacher, who is battling with his life following a skiing accident in late December, has reportedly called on reporters to stay away from the French hospital where he is being treated for his injuries, and to leave her family alone.
The former seven-time German champion, who remains in a medically induced coma since the accident on December 29 in the French ski resort of Meribel, has generated massive media interest, with his hospital in the French city of Grenoble under siege by reporters and photographers.
According to the Sydney Morning Herald, in a statement 'addressed to the media', Corinna Schumacher requested the media to support their shared fight for her husband and asked them to take the 'pressure' off the doctors and the hospital so that they can do their work.
Schumacher's wife further called on the reporters to have faith in the doctors' and their statements and asked them to leave the family in peace.
