Confucius' birthplace to hold foreign art exhibition

China's Shandong Province, which is Chinese philosopher Confucius' birthplace, is reportedly set to hold the annual art festival featuring the works of more than 350 foreign art masters.

The China Art Festival, scheduled to kick off on October 11, will see the artworks of famous artists including Leonardo Da Vinci and Pablo Picasso.

The exhibition is expected to enlighten the offspring of the oriental philosopher on Western fine art through a rare collection of paintings, sculptures and ceramics.

According to China Daily, a self-portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci would make its debut in China, among other oil paintings of the Renaissance.

Out of the modern and contemporary genre, works by Salvador Dali, Edgar Degas, Mimmo Paladino and Gigino Falconi will also be featured.

Picasso's works, including 14 etching paintings and 19 pieces of ceramics, are also the highlights of the exhibition.

According to the organizers of the art festival, the show will be held from October 9 to 20 at the Shangdong Provincial Museum in Jinan.
