Senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad on Thursday said that the Bharatiya Janata Party's charges against Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh in connection with the disproportionate assets case is an attempt to divert focus from the Vyapam scam and Lalit Gate that have become a matter of debate in the Parliament.

"This is only to divert the issue that was being raised for one and a half month in public by the media and in the Parliament. We are not going to reply to any such allegations which will divert our attention from the issue which is on focus inside and outside the House that is the Vyapam scam and the Lalit Gate," Azad told the media here.

The BJP, which had yesterday cornered Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat over corruption charges, today trained its guns on his Himachal Pradesh counterpart Virbhadra Singh.

Addressing the media here, BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad raised questions over an unsecured loan taken by Singh.

A case has been filed against Virbhadra Singh's family for owning assets to the tune of Rs. 6.1 crore.

According to reports, the Chief Minister's wife, Pratibha Singh, son Vikramaditya and daughter Aparajita had acquired these assets while he was the Union Minister between 2009-11.
