The Congress party on Tuesday backed the Bharatiya Janata Party, the main opposition in Delhi, and criticised the Aam Aadmi Party government for the marshalling out of MLA O.P. Sharma from the city's assembly.
"It is a shameful act. I think it is a blot of democracy: that a member of the opposition is asking a question on a pertinent, burning issue - the fake degree of [former law minister] Jitendra Singh Tomar - and then you are forcefully evicting him. I think this is a shameful day for democracy," Congress leader Sharmistha Mukherjee told ANI.
Earlier in the day, the BJP MLAs led by Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta confronted the Arvind Kejriwal-led Government on the fake degree issue. This led to an argument, following which BJP leader O.P. Sharma was marshalled outside the house by security personnel for creating a ruckus.
