Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi on Monday condemned the suicide attack at the Wagah border in Pakistan, and said that Islamabad should have been cautious not to have indirectly lent its support to terrorism.
"We have been saying that terrorism has no boundaries, terrorism has no religion, terrorism has no name, terrorism has no colour. Now, the chickens come home to roost because if you even indirectly acknowledge the validity of terrorist acts, then the chickens come home to roost," Singhvi told ANI here.
"It is deplorable, it is condemnable, it is dastardly. But Pakistan should have realised this long long ago that this needs to be put down with a firm hand whether it is Pakistan, whether it is India," he added.
According to reports, the death toll in Pakistan has gone up to 60 including 11 women and three security personnel in yesterday's suicide bomb blast at Wagah. Nearly 200 people were also injured when the suicide attacker detonated a powerful bomb minutes after the flag-lowering ceremony at the main Indo-Pak land border crossing.
The Al-Qaeda affiliated group Jandullah has claimed responsibility for the attack.
According to reports, the Pakistan Rangers had sealed off the area following the incident. All hospitals in Lahore have been put on emergency.
