The Congress on Saturday said that it expected the NDA Government to present a good budget for fiscal 2015-16, and added that the country has saved a lot from crude oil imports after a fall in its price.
"Our Finance Minister can present a good Budget this year because the Government is in a comfortable position this year, not because of any other achievement of the government but oil prices have fallen and India could save a lot of money on this account," said Senior Congress leader P C Chacko.
He also said that Finance Minister Arun Jaitley is in an enviable position, because no finance minister in the recent past had this kind of a comfortable financial position.
"So, the money India saved on the account of Crude Oil import alone is the biggest achievement or the plus point for the finance minister. So, they should be fulfilling their promises with a comfortable financial position. If the Government doesn't produce a good budget now, then it will be a big loss for the Government," he added.
The 2015-16 Budget is being billed as a 'make-or-break' event for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's eight-month-old government.
It is expected to give a big push to Prime Minister Modi's 'Make in India' campaign, with tax breaks and other incentives for several sectors.
