The Congress on Tuesday fielded party general secretary Madhusudan Mistry against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi from the Vadodara constituency for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The party fielded Mistry after Congress leader Narendra Rawat chose to withdraw his candidature from the said constituency.
"This is the moment I was waiting for years. I am very confident that I will be able to defeat him (Modi)," said Mistry.
Meanwhile, the Congress also fielded scam tainted former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan from the Nanded constituency in Maharashtra.
