Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi on Tuesday said the Congress had hurt the people of Telangana, and that they had no time to address the issues of the people there.

"Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi have no time to go to Andhra Pradesh. The Congress has hurt people of Telangana, but they don't have the time to say a few words to them. People of Andhra Pradesh are facing problems, but they don't care about sorrows," said Modi.

"Politics can't be so heartless. They don't care about you and they don't care about your pain. Should we bother about such a party? Shouldn't a party like Congress be punished?" he asked, while addressing a rally in Karnataka.

He further said that Congress and corruption were twin sisters.

"Congress and corruption are twin sisters. Where there is Congress there will be corruption, and where there is corruption, you'll find the Congress. Till you rid the country of the Congress, you will not get a corruption free India," Modi said.

"The Congress blames the BJP for not allowing the passage of anti-corruption bills, but the proceedings in Parliament are being stalled by their own MPs," he said.

He also said that it was extremely important to create a Congress-free India.

"I am amazed at how they fool people. They are capable of claiming anything. The Congress leaders can say anything in front of the people. Recently, they had come to Karnataka, and said that the party doesn't have a high command," said Modi.

"The whole country knows that there isn't a shred of democracy within the party. Democracy has a very limited meaning for them, and it is all about coming to power via elections for them. They don't believe in Loktantra, they only believe in getting votes for power. All of the four enemies of democracy which is dynastic tendencies, casteism, communalism and opportunism are present in the Congress," he said.

"Congress says India is a beehive but the BJP thinks that India is their motherland. Congress says poverty is a state of mind; but we think we have to serve the poor. Congress does not enjoy unless they talk about poor people, but we lose our sleep when we listen to the poor talk," he added.

He added that there were fundamental differences between the Congress and the BJP.

"The Congress wants to divide and rule, we want to unite and develop. India wants to be freed from Congress rule," said Modi.

"They worry about women empowerment but if they are genuinely worried about women, then at least they should work on controlling prices so they can sleep peacefully," he said.

"They had promised to reduce inflation in 100 days after they were elected but did prices go down? They should at least bring back prices at levels where the Vajpayee-government had left them," he added.
