The Congress Party on Thursday issued a three-line whip to its Member of Parliament (MPs), asking them to be present in Lok Sabha on July 20 for the no-confidence motion against the Narendra Modi-led government.
The motion moved by the Congress-led opposition against the ruling government will be taken up for debate and voting in the Lok Sabha tomorrow.
On a related note, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also issued a whip, directing its MPs to vote in favour of the no-confidence motion.
On July 17, senior Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge announced that all opposition parties have come to a consensus to move the no-confidence motion in the monsoon session.
However, a day ahead of the no-confidence debate in Lok Sabha, Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar said the Congress would be proven wrong yet again in the trust vote in Parliament, similar to the situation in 1999.
On a related note, the Shiv Sena will vote against the no-confidence motion moved by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) against the Narendra Modi-led government.
On the first day of the monsoon session of Parliament on July 18, Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan accepted TDP's no-confidence motion and scheduled it for discussion on Friday.
