The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday said Congress Party leader J P Aggarwal possessed a degraded mentality for quitting as the chief patron of the Ramleela Ground Committee over an invitation extended to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the celebrations of Vijayadashmi this year.
"I think he (J P Aggarwal) has given an evidence of another kind of mindset. If you are leaving the committee because of inviting the Prime Minister, then it shows the kind of degraded mentality you have. The Prime Minister is a Prime Minister of all people, irrespective of the party to which he belongs," the president of the Delhi unit of BJP, Satish Upadhyay told ANI.
"The tradition of calling the Prime Minister to the Ramleela Ground has been there since many years, irrespective of the party to which he belongs," he added.
The president of the Ramleela Committee, O P Katyal said Aggrawal objected to the Prime Minister being invited because he belongs to the Congress, but the committee members overruled him, he decided to leave the committee.

Katyal asserted that Aggarwal wanted Congress Party leaders to be present for the function.
