Congress leader Rane loses Bandra bypoll; SAD wins Dhuri, Congress wins Bhagwanpur (Update-Narayan Rane)

Bye-election results in Maharashtra, Uttarakhand, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh have been declared.

Congress leader Narayan Rane lost to Shiv Sena's Tripti Sawant by over a margin of around 19000 votes from the Bandra East constituency. NCP's Suman Patil won by record margin 1,13,000 votes in the Tasgaon-Kavthe Mahankal seat.

Congress candidate Mamta Rakesh won the Bhagwanpur seat in Uttarakhand. She defeated BJP's Rajpal Singh by round about 37000 votes.

With this victory, the Congress has got an absolute majority of 36 in the 70-member Uttarakhand State Assembly.

In Dhuri, the ruling Shiromani Akali Dal candidate Gobind Singh Longowal won by over 37000 votes. He defeated his Congress rival Simarpartap Singh Badal. The SAD now has 59 seats in the 117-member Punjab Assembly.

Samajwadi Party candidate Urmila Rajput won the Charkhari assembly seat in Uttar Pradesh's Mahoba District. She defeated her BJP rival Akhil Rajput by over 40,000 votes.
