Congress Party president Sonia Gandhi, members of her family and party leaders and workers paid floral tribute to former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi on his 70th birth anniversary at Vir Bhumi here on Wednesday.
Sonia Gandhi was accompanied by her son and party vice president Rahul Gandhi, her daughter Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and son-in-law Robert Vadra.
President Pranab Mukherjee, Vice-President Mohammad Hamid Ansari, former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and several other dignitaries also visited the memorial and paid floral tribute to Rajiv Gandhi.
Several functions are being held across the country to remember the former Prime Minister.
The day is also celebrated as Sadbhavna Diwas (harmony day).
Rajiv Gandhi was the sixth Prime Minister of India.
