The Maharashtra Congress on Wednesday protested against state education minister Vinod Tawde, demanding his resignation following a row over his alleged fake engineering degree.
However, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis defended his cabinet colleague and dismissed the matter as a non-issue.
According to reports, the minister had clarified that he was a student of Pune's Dnyaneshwar Vidyapeeth during 1980 to 1984, and the course was not recognised by the government.
