The Congress party has questioned Prime Minister Narendra Modi's criticisms of previous regimes at the Centre, with the grand old party accusing him of belittling his predecessor through 'unacceptable' statements.
A release from the office of senior Congress leader Anand Sharma stated that the party has 'strongly objected' to Prime Minister Modi's negating the past achievements of the country and criticising his predecessor on foreign soil.
"He has... travelled not only as India's Prime Minister but as a BJP leader," the release further said.
On Saturday, the Prime Minister, while addressing the Indian diaspora in Shanghai, had taken a jibe at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi and at previous governments at the Centre.
"For one year, I have not taken even one day's leave. I have worked day and night. Did I go on any vacation?" he had said.
"I am finishing work not done in past 30 years," he had added.
