With Devendra Fadnavis all set to take over the reins of Maharashtra, Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam on Thursday said he would like to know from where the BJP was getting crores of rupees for the mega ceremony to be held at Wankhede Stadium tomorrow.
Nirupam also took a jibe at those who used to label Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi as the 'crown prince', saying the same people are now taking part in what resembles a coronation ceremony.
"Those who used to address our leader as 'Yuvraj' (crown prince) are now preparing for the 'coronation' in Maharashtra. The people of Maharashtra have chosen a Chief Minister, not a king," Nirupam told ANI here.
"The state's protocol department says that only a certain amount of money must be spent at the swearing-in ceremony of a Chief Minister, which means the government is not spending money. Then who is spending money and what is the point of all this spending?" he asked.
Maharashtra Chief Minister-elect Devendra Fadnavis, who is currently in Delhi handing out invites to senior BJP leaders for the oath-taking ceremony tomorrow, will be sworn-in tomorrow at a grand ceremony at the Wankhede stadium.
Fadnavis will be meeting senior leader L K Advani, Home Minister Rajanth Singh, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and party president Amit Shah to hand over the invitations for the event.
Reports say that famous art director Nitin Desai has been roped in as the production designer.
