Reacting to Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi's comment that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was playing the politics of blood, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Monday said the people had lost trust in whatever the Congress is saying, and that their agenda should be corruption and bad governance, as it would sound more believable.

"The Congress's agenda should be corruption and bad governance, as they are the best at that, and it would also sound believable to the people. They should in fact start a panchayat to teach these things," said Naqvi.

"The people are not going to listen to all this as they do not trust them anymore. First of all, the Congress needs to understand that the people want to know has the Congress done in the past ten years. They are questioning all the other people, but themselves. These talks would not take them anywhere," he said.

"His mother talks about the BJP 'sowing seeds of poison' and he says that we are playing communal politics. They use the same terms again and again, but saying such things would not be able to hide the corruption prevailing in their party," he added.

Rahul Gandhi had accused the BJP it of practicing "politics of blood" by pitting one religion against another to come to power at any cost.

"BJP practices politics of blood. They don't see anything but power which they want at any cost. They can pit communities and castes against each other; they won't hesitate in spilling blood if they find it necessary to usurp power," said Gandhi, while addressing a rally in Dehradun yesterday.
