The Bharatiya, Janata Party on Thursday said the Congress Party has indulged in family worship and always insulted India.
Party spokesman M J Akbar also said that the Congress Party's stand on the decision made by the Government to discontinue postage stamps of Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi is inexplicable.
Speaking to ANI, Akbar said, "There are two kinds of stamps, of which one is the definitive series in which stamps are in popular, regular circulation , and on those stamps, there are just two people, Mrs Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi, their faces are being used on the stamps of popular circulation on the makers of India."
"Are you seriously trying to tell the nation that nobody else contributed to the freedom and development of this nation? Can you remove Babasaheb Ambedkar, Bhagat Singh, Maulana Azad from the list, even Shubhas Chandra Bose was not in the list," he pointed out to the Congress.
A controversy erupted on Wednesday over the decision to discontinue postage stamps of Indira and Rajiv Gandhi with the government saying only one family cannot get this honour, even as the Congress termed the move as "insult to the history" and demanded an apology.
